Primary Education
Roosevelt's unique primary art program ensures that all students Kindergarten through 4th grade students experience art outside their homeroom. Each class receives dedicated Visual Art instruction from a licensed Art Educator 2-3 times a week for a full 40 minute class period. These classes lay the foundation for advanced art education and give both teachers and students the opportunity to uncover hidden artistic potential.

The last great year of junior high is spent continuing to develop the individual artist. This preparation includes the development of a portfolio for the high school. Many of our students will be continuing their artistic journey in high school and this is the last year to ensure they have the qualifications to have a successful high school career.
Digital Art |
In addition to traditional visual arts classes, Roosevelt Magnet students have the opportunity to participate in Digital Art classes that integrate traditional art forms with digital technology. Students use the Adobe Creative Suite and other programs to create digitally enhanced art pieces and commercial graphic design pieces. For more information on Digital Art click the link above.
At Roosevelt we believe that one of the best ways to teach students social and emotional skills is through the Arts!Social & emotional learning is comprised of five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Many students today are lacking skills in these core competencies, so a key part in educating the "whole child" is developing these social emotional skills.
